Er zijn verschillende methoden om haar te transplanteren. Een daarvan is de ICE FUE haartransplantatie. Deze methode verschilt niet van de andere methoden van transplantatie; het verschilt alleen in de manier waarop het transplantaat wordt behandeld voordat het wordt overgedragen. Het is een klein, maar zeer essentieel verschil, omdat het resultaat na relatief korte tijd vrij goed zichtbaar is. Het belangrijkste kenmerk van de ICE FUE-methode is dat de haarzakjes in een koude oplossing worden bewaard. Met behulp van de ICE-techniek wordt de structuur van de geïmplanteerde haarwortels versterkt en wordt hun levensduur verlengd. De grafts die geëxtraheerd en in koude temperatuur bewaard zijn, worden daarna op dun behaarde en kale plekken geïmplanteerd.
ICE-FUE-haartransplantatie kan uw voorkeursmethode zijn, omdat deze methode geen zichtbare littekens nalaat na de ingreep. De littekens zijn erg klein en vaak alleen zichtbaar wanneer het haar helemaal afgeschoren wordt. Na een ICE FUE behandeling wordt meestal een dag rust aanbevolen.

De ICE FUE-methode kan worden toegepast bij patiënten die veel haarverlies hebben en vanaf de voorzijde tot en met de kruin haartransplantatie nodig hebben. Het voordeel van de ICE FUE-methode is, dat de methode haartransplantatie in één sessie mogelijk maakt. Deze methode wordt vooral aanbevolen voor patiënten die meer dan 3.000 tot 6.000 haarzakjes nodig hebben. In sommige gevallen wordt de ICE FUE-methode echter niet aanbevolen. Allereerst vindt er een consult plaats voorafgaand de operatie. De anamnese wordt ingevuld, de gezondheidsproblemen van de patiënt, de geschiedenis van haarverlies, gewoonten, alcohol- en rookgebruik worden in kaart gebracht. De haarlijn en de gebieden waar geïmplanteerd gaat worden, worden in overleg met de patiënt afgetekend. Er wordt een bloedtest uitgevoerd en de haren geschoren. Deze fase omvat het verwijderen van haarzakjes uit het donorgebied. De haarzakjes worden verwijderd met behulp van een micromotor met 0,7 of 0,8 mm ponspunten, en dus wordt het haarzakje met inbegrip van de haarwortel verwijderd. De gespecialiseerde arts zal de kanalen voorzichtig één voor één in de juiste richting en diepte openen.
