How is Eyelid surgery(Blepharoplasty) performed?
Upper eyelid aesthetics is a surgical procedure applied to treat the sagging skin on the eyelid, so it is also known as eyelid drooping surgery. In the upper eyelid procedure, an incision is made in the fold line of the eyelid to remove excess skin and adipose tissue that restricts the field of vision. Thanks to this incision, fat deposits are cleaned and excess skin is cut and removed, the eyelid is reshaped to eliminate sagging.
Lower eyelid surgery is not a stand-alone surgery and is usually performed in combination with upper eyelid surgery, depending on the person’s needs. In lower eyelid surgery, an incision is made just below the eyelashes and the eyelid skin is lifted upwards. The fat pads are spread to the eye, eliminating the collapse and discoloration under the eyes.
Upper eyelid surgery is performed under local anesthesia and combined operation under general anesthesia. The eyelid aesthetic procedure takes an average of 1-2 hours. The duration of the procedure may be extended depending on the job to be done. The patient is discharged the same day. Mild headache or nausea may be experienced due to the anesthesia.
